The meeting was held at Kazan Federal University on 24th July.
The participants were Minister of Culture of Tatarstan Irada Ayupova, Rector Ilshat Gafurov, Deputy Head of the Agency for the Management and Use of Historical and Cultural Monuments (AUIPIK) Mikhail Ponomaryov, Director of the Institute of International Relations of KFU Ramil Khayrutdinov, Deputy Director of the Institute of International Relations for Research and Vice-President of Russian National Committee of ICOMOS Rafael Valeev, Research Consultant of the Department of Heritage Restoration of KFU Yury Yegorushkin, and Dean of the Higher School of Historical Sciences and World Cultural Heritage of KFU Ayrat Sitdikov.
The sides agreed to cooperate in education and science, provide advanced training for AUIPIK employees, innovation, and international projects.
“Conservation and restoration are the most important parts of preserving cultural heritage. Of course, professional scientific approach is needed to come up with new restoration techniques. I think that we can create a new guidebook of recommendations and programs for the preservation of cultural monuments with our partners,” opined Dr. Gafurov.
AUIPIK Head Aleksey Menshov noted the high professionalism of Tatarstani experts in cultural heritage and the Agency’s interest in improving its educational and scientific activities. He hopes that the agreement will help enhance the scientific approaches to restoration techniques.
The sides also discussed restoration plans for KFU’s historical real estate, including the Engelhardt Observatory and Regional Trade School in Sviyazhsk.
KFU and AUIPIK also plan to cooperate with International Center for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property.
