Institute of Social and Philosophical Sciences and Mass Communications
The Institute of Social and Philosophical Sciences and Mass Communications is a young institute that preserves and develops long-standing university traditions in teaching philosophy, political science, sociology, religious studies, conflict resolution, journalism, and social communications theory. The education that graduates receive at the Institute enables them to successfully pursue careers in a wide range of socio-political and humanitarian fields, as well as in social and media communications. The Institute strives to combine in-depth theoretical training with applied research.
The Institute's staff has a broad range of research interests: research in the fields of philosophy, political science, sociology, conflict resolution, and religious studies, aimed at effectively addressing the challenges of social stability and conflict-free socio-political and interfaith interaction among the peoples inhabiting the Volga Federal District; the search for optimal tools for analyzing social phenomena; the development of distributing social risks models across various territories; and the construction of reality in the mass media.
The Institute's educational activities focus on developing students' free creative thinking, humanistic values, providing an individualized approach to students, and encouraging young people's social activities.
Institute graduates work in government institutions; in the information and analytical services of public authorities, political parties and public associations, and in businesses; they teach at universities and schools; and work for religious organizations and sociological research companies. Journalists realize their creative potential in local and national mass media from their student years.
