The Higher School Information Technology and Intelligent Systems (HSITIS) is one of the youngest and the most innovative departments of Kazan Federal University. It was founded in 2011 by the initiative of the Ministry of Information and Communication of the Republic of Tatarstan, Kazan Federal University and IT-Park. From the start, the Higher Institute for ITIS was supported by some of the largest IT-companies in the world, such as Microsoft, Fujitsu, Oracle, IBM, HP and Cisco, among others.
Our mission is to advance knowledge and educate students in science and technology, and to train highly-skilled IT-specialists. ITIS also offers courses for the professional training and retraining of employees of IT enterprises and implements applied research projects.
There is a strong educational system at ITIS: Classes are conducted by professors and scientists of Kazan Federal University, and special courses are delivered by developers and engineers from major IT companies. A range of courses are taught by professors invited from universities abroad. In addition to the theory and fundamental disciplines, we pay special attention to the applied disciplines. We have more than 20 research IT labs (Microsoft lab, Samsung Android lab, IOS lab, Cisco Innovation center, Fujitsu Lab, Robotics Lab, Intelligence Search Systems lab etc.) at ITIS, where students work on R&D projects.
The School offers a Bachelor's degree program in Applied Informatics (4 years, full time studies), and a Master's degree program in Software Engineering (2 years. Majors: Software Development Management, Software Engineering Methods and Assets).
The content of the master's program in line with international best practices for teaching software engineering master's institutions of higher education Integratd Software and Systems Engineering Curriculum - Graduate Software Engineering 2009 (GSwE2009): Curriculum Guidelines for Graduate Degree Programs in Software Engineering, Computing Curricula 2005 and Software Engineering 2004, which are part of a series of educational standards Computing Curricula ACM and IEEE CS.
The program takes two years. After a year of basic education you can choose one of three specializations: scientific and practical - «Cognitive Systems and Data Science" or a more practice-oriented "Methods and tools for software engineering" (System Architecture) or - "Management of software development" (Manager IT -The).
