At the 15th International Economic Forum "Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum" a memorandum of understanding was signed between Kazan Federal University (KFU) and the University of Malaya (Malaysia).
The memorandum aims to develop international cooperation and strengthen ties between Kazan University and the University of Malaya in education and science. The signing took place during the roundtable "Russia – Malaysia: Economic Aspects of Regional Cooperation," organized by the Russian Ministry of Economic Development. Timirkhan Alishev, KFU's Vice-Rector for External Relations, spoke at the event.
"Malaysia is one of those countries that are developing very actively. Currently, about 850 people from Malaysia are studying at Russian universities. At KFU, unfortunately, there are not many representatives from this country. We want to change this situation", T. Alishev reported after the event. "In October, a KFU delegation visited Malaysia, a number of agreements were signed, and certain agreements were reached. Today, we have signed an agreement with the University of Malaya. The first project will be an internship at this university, which will take place in August. It will be organized by KFU jointly with the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan".
The memorandum was signed by Igor Privalov, Director of the Higher School of State and Municipal Management at KFU, and Anis Yusal Yusuff, Executive Director of the International Institute of Policy and Management at the University of Malaya.
The memorandum includes the development and implementation of joint educational and scientific programs; sending students, teaching, and research staff to the partner university for training, qualification improvement, and enhancement of scientific and educational activities; conducting joint scientific research in the field of education; joint innovation activities; participation in network forms of educational programs; joint educational and research projects, as well as conducting congresses, symposiums, conferences, seminars, and exchange of academic literature.
I. Privalov noted after the ceremony that the agreement with the University of Malaya on the implementation of joint projects, particularly the organization of educational internships for state and municipal employees of the Republic of Tatarstan, was reached in October 2023 during a KFU delegation visit to Malaysia.
"We are ready for mutual cooperation. We are waiting for Tatarstan residents at the University of Malaya and are ready to send representatives from our university here. It is important to learn from different people in different countries, and to notice not only successes but also failures, because this can prevent making our own mistakes", Anis Yusal Yusuff said in an interview with journalists.
