The theme of the meeting was a modern Austrian novel in the context of "overcoming the past."

An interesting meeting was held at the Department of Foreign Languages of Elabuga Institute of KFU, timed to coincide with a significant date - the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory over fascism. Professor of the Chair of German Philology Elena Shastina gave students a fascinating lecture on the modern Austrian novel of the late XX-early XXI century.

"Austrian literature of recent decades has raised difficult topics. Writers in Austria broke their silence about the dark pages of the history of their home country during World War II, which stretched over decades. Elizabeth Reichart in the novel "Shadows of February," Andreas Okopenko in the book "Kindernatsi," Norbert Gstrain in the political detective "Briton," Rafaela Edelbauer in the novel-parable "The Leaking Land" touched upon the problem of "overcoming the past", they allow you to better comprehend the significance of the lessons of past years", said Elena Mikhailovna.

First-year students actively participated in the dialogue, asking questions and showing a sincere interest in the literary heritage of modern Austria.
