Two new industrial collaborative robots (cobots) UR3e and UR5e from the Danish company Universal Robots arrived at the Laboratory of Intelligent Robotic Systems (LIRS) of the Institute of Information Technology and Intelligent Systems (ITIS) of Kazan Federal University (KFU).
The manipulators are highly accurate and designed for payloads up to 3 kg for UR3e and up to 5 kg for UR5e. They can be used in conjunction with research, pharmaceutical, agricultural, electronic and process equipment. UR cobots are designed for tasks such as caprute and manipulating objects, working with tools, soldering and painting, mounting small parts, gluing. At the same time, UR cobots can successfully cope with tasks in small spaces, as the joints rotate 360 degrees. Management occurs using the Polyscope graphical interface.
Employees successfully completed the «Universal Robots Academy training», an educational resource created to maximize the potential of robot operation for the user, carried out commissioning and began to study and use all the functions of cobots. In the future, it is planned that students will have a practical study of working with manipulators on the course «Industrial Robotics» as part of the Master's program «Intelligent Robotics»
