Deborah A. Shechter was invited to visit Kazan Federal University by the Head of the Department of Educational Technology and Information Systems in Philology L. Salekhova.
Within the framework of her visit, Deborah A. Shechter delivered a series of lectures on topical issues of teaching foreign languages with technology:
Students were offered a short course of workshops to discuss these topics. Moreover, they were engaged in reading authentic texts mastering global and close reading techniques. In their final essays, students expressed their admiration with practical teaching tips which they will definitely implement in their practice.
Ms Shechter had a meeting with the administration of Leo Tolstoy Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication. There were discussed the further possibilities of cooperation between Kazan Federal University and Tel-Aviv University which is considered to be one of the prestigious seats of learning in Israel.
On May 29, Deborah A. Shechter took part in a round-table talk with the faculty of the Department of Educational Technology and Information Systems in Philology.
In the interview about her impressions of Kazan Federal University and the capital city, our Israeli guest replied that it is her first visit to Kazan and that she is fascinated by culture, history and traditions of peoples of the Republic of Tatarstan. She visited XXX International Nuriev classical ballet festival, Russian drama theatre, Svyazhsk island-city and the Kremlin. Deborah A. Shechter said that Kazan Federal University amazed her by its worldwide status, history, highly qualified staff and intelligent students.
We are sure that the visit of Deborah A. Shechter is the beginning of a new collaboration between Kazan Federal University and Tel-Aviv University.
