Abstract
A connection between the semasiological and linguocultural approaches was considered in this paper as a promising research perspective. The proper name was discussed as an important component of the writer's linguistic worldview. The study is based on the story “Abraham's Heart” (1926) by B.K. Zaitsev. The object of study is the onomastic vocabulary and other concepts of the Christian culture (heart, tenderness, icon, prayer, tears, sin, etc.). The onomastic vocabulary of the story includes such names as Abraham, Mary, the Mother of God of Tenderness towards Evil Hearts, etc. The functioning of the above-mentioned proper names in the story was analyzed. The research is highly relevant, because of the insufficient data on B.K. Zaitsev's use of onomastic means. The conceptual sphere of the story “Abraham's Heart” was reconstructed. The abilities of onyms to enter the complex inter-field relations and associative-semantic relations with the concepts of the Christian culture were revealed. It was concluded that B.K. Zaitsev's story is characterized by conceptualization of the meanings of individual linguistic units, as well as by strengthening of the components of their meaning in the literary text.
