Abstract
Theoretical and geographical generalization of the existing transboundary structures to the regular-shaped geometric figures (squares) has been carried out in order to identify their universal and unique character. The orthogonality and radiality of the physical and geographical structures (natural zones, mountain ranges and their altitudes) of Primorsky krai (Russia) and the transboundary territories of neighboring countries influences the organization of transportation and settlement structures and the implementation of economic potentials of both border and coastal geographical locations. The features of transboundariness in Primorsky krai and the border provinces of China have been considered. The conclusion has been made about possible qualitative transformation of the studied territorial structures.
Keywords: border, idealization, China, orthogonality, near-border location, Primorsky krai, seaside location, radiality, North Korea, territorial structures, transboundariness
Acknowledgments. The study was supported by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research and the Russian Geographical Society as part of project no. 17-05-41044.
