Rector Ilshat Gafurov and Mufti Kamil Samigullin met on March 19.
The document encompasses various projects, in particular those in preserving the theological heritage of Tatar people.
Rector Gafurov opined, “This is a significant day for our organizations. We are emphasizing our longstanding fruitful ties with this signing. We also work in a research consortium with leading Oriental studies institutions of Russia.”
Kazan University and Khuzur Publishing House (the Directorate of Muslims’ publishing branch) have already started scanning and digitizing Islamic manuscripts.
Mufti Samigullin noted the importance of this work in light of the existing goals of reviving the values of local Islam and theological traditions, “Introducing these best examples of Tatar theological thought to Islamic education helps familiarize our Muslim youth with historical knowledge and civic consciousness of Russian Muslims of times past.”
