Ilya Popov, Lecturer of the Department of Russian History, received the annual prize for 2021 in Business and Innovation nomination.
This year’s prize was contested by many community activists, including librarians, film directors, Paralympians, artists, school principals, human rights lawyers, and farmers from all across Russia. One of the jury participants was Aide to the President of Tatarstan Natalia Fishman-Bekmambetova.
Goodsurfing is a social initiative aimed at combining travel and community activism, such as volunteering or expeditions.
“The project is growing, we are constantly working on something new, something to make ‘travelling with purpose’ interesting, useful and comfortable for all users. In the coming weekend, we’ll be conducting a travel with purpose spring festival in several cities,” commented Popov. Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Murmansk, Samara, Kazan, Cheboksary, and Krasnoyarsk will partake.
Goodsurfing is an official registered nonprofit organization in Russia aiming to organize volunteer travel and promote culture, education, and science in Russia and abroad.
