The history of university studies of Humanities and social sciences begins with the story of Law teaching.
Science of law had been taught in university since the very first years. Professor of Civil Law D.I.Meyer made a notable contribution to the progress of Russian Law studies establishing the Law Faculty in 1837.
Lectures by outstanding Russian Civil Law professor were very popular not among the students but with numerous citizens. On the day he defended his Doctor's Thesis "The Ancient Russian Right Mortgage" the authorities had to cancel a concert of a famous actor as so many people decided to come to the university.
One of the best specialists in Criminal Law was A.A.Piontkovsky, in History and Theory of Law - N.P.Zagoskin and G.F.Shershenevich. The visitors can see the photograph of graduate students of 1911, university badge of one of the alumni as well as the Law Faculty timetable of 1914. Law Science continued its development after the Law Faculty re-opening at Kazan University, which is also shown in the exhibition.
Exhibits of the stand dedicated to learning and teaching history, represent us the works by S.V.Yeshevsky and A.P.Shchapov, N.A.Firsov, N.N.Firsov, talented specialist in Native land History, as well as scholars of General History V.I.Modestov, F.G.Mishchenko, M.M.Khvostov and others. The XX century is notable for works by G.N.Vulfson and I.R.Taghirov, M.A.Usmanov and I.M.Ionenko, A.S.Shofman and I.P.Yermolayev.
Here one can see the results of regular archeological expedition organized in the middle of the XX century under the direction of N.F.Kalinin and his disciple A.Kh.Khalikov. The latter studied the problems of ancient history of our region and the most difficult issues of entogenesis of the Volga Region and the Urals peoples as well as ethnographic expeditions supervised by N.I.Vorobyov and his followers Ye.P.Busyghin and N.V.Zorin.
