International Conference on Geomagnetism, Paleomagnetism and Rock Magnetism
International workshop on geomagnetism, paleomagnetism and rock magnetism: theory, practice, experiment.
The International Workshop on Paleomagnetism and Rock Magnetism has been held almost annually since 1979. Back then it was known as Workshop on Physical Principles of Paleomagnetism and Paleointensity of the Geomagnetic Field, and supervised by the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. Eleven workshops were held in “Borok” Geophysical Observatory in 1979, 1981, 1983-1985, 1987-1989, 1992-1994. Since 1996, the All-Russian Workshop on Paleomagnetism and Rock Magnetism has been held in “Borok” with the support from the Russian Foundation for Basic Research. In 1998, the workshop became an international event. In 2017, we are pleased to host this workshop here in Kazan.
The workshop is devoted to the study of modern geomagnetic field (as well as its behavior during geological and historical times). Other topics include magnetic and mineralogical studies, petromagnetism issues and application of rock magnetism and paleomagnetism in various fields of science. Also, the conference will include several presentations from present and future leaders in the fields of rock and mineral magnetism. The conference will also include Youth Workshop: Practical Applications of Petromagnetic and Magnetic Data.

1. Global tectonics
2. Event stratigraphy - Volcanism, climate changes, environmental changes
3. Magnetic and mineralogical studies
4. Structure of the geomagnetic field - Modern and ancient, variations, archaeomagnetism
5. Lake sediments, ecology, soil.
6. Practical applications of paleomagnetism and rock magnetism
The working languages of the conference are English and Russian. Presentations given in Russian must include explanatory notes in English.
Abstract submission closure – August 21, 2017.
Venue
Kazan is the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, a large port on the left bank of the Volga River. It is one of the largest economic, political, scientific, educational, cultural and sport centers in Russia. The Kazan Kremlin is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 1.2 million people (representatives of more than 100 nationalities) live here in harmony despite the diverse cultures and religions. Kazan is one of the largest transport hubs; it is easily accessible by all modes of transport.
