A meeting with Head of Trimble CIS Georgy Mosolov took place on 4th September.
He spoke with KFU Vice-Rector Danis Nurgaliev and Chair of the Department of Astronomy and Space Geodesy Ilfan Bikmaev. Mr. Mosolov gave the GNSS system with Trimble TSC3 controller. The positioning precision of the system is close to 1 centimeter.
Kazan Federal University has been cooperating with Trimble for over 20 years. Overall, seven institutes of the University utilize Trimble’s equipment in one capacity or another.
Mr. Mosolov expressed hope that R10 will be of great use to the students, “Geodesy is an important domain for Trimble, but we have several dozen other areas. As we expand our cooperation, we can find other points of mutual interest, keeping in mind that geospatial technology finds more and more applications in various spheres.”
Ilfan Bikmaev spoke about his department’s research. He mentioned that Nikolai Lobachevsky, Rector of Kazan University and famous geometer, and Ivan Simonov, one of the first explorers of the Antarctic, were also students of astronomy. He said that about 200 astronomy students make use of Trimble equipment today, as well as about 300 young people from other institutes.
Importantly, during the pandemic, when geodesy equipment could not be used in practice training, Trimble gave access to its emulators for KFU students.
