Twenty two of the best performing students received their graduation certificates from Rector Ilshat Gafurov on 8th July.
The coronavirus pandemic has disrupted many plans this year, but the University decided not to cancel the good tradition of personally honoring some of the most talented young people. However, because of health precautions, the number of invitees was lowered, and the ceremony itself was moved to open air.
Ilshat Gafurov addressed the gathering, “Your academic performance, achievements in sports, arts and community activities really make you the best graduates of this year. I am sure that the friendships that you have made here will last for life.”
The invited persons have had some great results in various fields, such as research publications, government scholarships, Student of the Year contests, student sports events, and arts performance series like Student Spring.
“Thanks to students like you and with support from educators, our university moves towards new heights. We are proud of you and will be always glad to see you as postgraduates, doctorate candidates, or just guests,” added the Rector.
The ceremony ended with group photos and, of course, with throwing graduation caps in the air.
The event was organized with full consideration of COVID-19 prevention measures, including social distancing, face masks, and preliminary screening.
