The Ambassador arrived with his spouse Rosa Maria Rabadan Ibáñez on June 21st.
While meeting the guest, Rector Gafurov congratulated him on the occasion of the national team’s victory in the match that had taken place in Kazan the day before. The Ambassador quipped that the Spanish squad still has something to learn from the Russian footballers this time because they had already scored eight times in two games.
Moving to the agenda, Rector presented the University's latest achievements. He mentioned that there are five significant research collaboration and nine partnerships with Spanish colleagues. He also said that KFU would like to welcome more native speakers to Spanish classes and joint Islamic heritage studies in Spain. Education for migrant children may also be of interest.
The Ambassador answered that there is definitely room for expansion in cooperation. A separate point was raised about Repsol, a Spanish oil powerhouse, which has recently shown interest in advancing into Russia. The company plans to open internships and grants for Russian students.
