Rector Ilshat Gafurov joined the meeting helmed by the Minister of Education and Science of Russia Olga Vasilyeva.
The main point of the agenda was the new Moscow International Ranking “Three Missions of a University”. This first iteration includes 200 universities from 39 countries.
Chairman of the Council, Rector of Moscow State University Viktor Sadovnichy noted that the Moscow Ranking has a correlation of only 65 percent with other major rankings, which attests its independence. The full table will be published on December 11th.
The rectors also discussed their next steps in implementing the Strategy of Scientific and Technological Development of Russia 2030. A report on this was made by Grigory Trubnikov, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Russia. An exchange of opinions then followed considering the universities’ contribution to the strategic goals.
