A delegation from South Korea arrived on Sunday, October 15th.
Its aim is to study KFU's experience in robotics, engineering and automotive industry. On Monday morning they toured the Institute of Engineering together with Rector Ilshat Gafurov.
The Rector personally introduced some of the Institute's key equipment and classes; the guests were especially impressed by a test polygon for robotics programming. Dr. Gafurov noted, “These robots are created and programmed by our students. We have a boarding school for kids of 12+ years of age which specializes on IT and robotics. As you can see, this is a prospective direction for us, and we already have preparations for the long-term future. We hope that we and you can launch some projects together and will meet more often for productive joint work.”
So far a center of competence for automotive construction and design has been discussed by the sides. Several areas of innovative materials and components are also of interest. Also, the two universities ponder the possibility of establishing a test production facility akin to the already existing ones with KAMAZ and Ford Sollers. The Korean team will visit those two tomorrow, October 17th, during their visit to Naberezhnye Chelny Institute.
This visit is a follow-up to the agreements achieved by KFU and KU in August 2017, when President of Kookmin University Yu Ji-soo visited. The sides then decided to promote cooperation in automotive industry, which may lead to similar ties between business entities of our two countries.
