The research center will be based at the Institute of International Relations.
Lately, KFU has streamlined a number of cooperation initiatives with the Central Asian partners. This laid a good foundation for a new research entity.
“The Institute of Central Asian Studies will not only engage in educational and scientific cooperation but also implement community projects. Thanks to this opening, we will be able to partake in various programs helmed by our partners in the region and track changes in international relations,” summarized Ramil Khayrutdinov, Director of the Institute of International Relations.
Some of the experts of the new institute attended the unveiling ceremony on 28th February, among them Alikber Alikberov (Head of the Center for Central Asian, Caucasian, Uralic and Volga Region Studies), Ildar Galiev (Head of the Support Section of the Security Council of the Republic of Tatarstan), Danil Mustafin (Head of the Division of National Policy of the Presidential Administration of Tatarstan), Yerkin Tukumov (Consul General of Kazakhstan in Kazan), Khakim Abdullo Rakhnamo (Head of the Division of Regional Security of the Center for Strategic Research under the President of Tajikistan), and Bauyrzhan Baytanaev (Director of the Margulan Institute of Archaeology of Kazakhstan).
The Institute for Central Asian Studies held its first roundtable on the same day. The discussion was dedicated to countering extremism and terrorism among the youth in post-Soviet countries.
