A meeting with Vice-Rector Linar Latypov was held on 24th May.
The arriving team comprises:
Secretary-General of the Guangdong Institute for International Strategies (GIIS) Li Qing;
Senior Research Fellow of GIIS Xiao Yaofei;
Dean of the Faculty of European Languages and Cultures Yang Ke;
Secretary for Foreign Affairs Peng Keming;
Consul General of China in Kazan Wu Yingqin.
Vice-Rector Latypov greeted the guests and presented KFU. He spoke in detail about the University’s cooperation with Chinese colleagues. Naturally, the number of Chinese students also came up. Currently, there are 334 undergraduates, 155 master students, and 20 PhD candidates from the People’s Republic. Dr. Latypov also proposed to start working on a joint research center for Russian and Chinese studies in politics, economy, and history.
Secretary Li noted, “Kazan University is a prestigious and respected institution. Many distinguished people have studied within these walls.” She also spoke about her institute and university and offered to expand student exchange and cooperative research.
Later in the day, the delegation is partaking in a roundtable on the One Belt One Road initiative at the Institute of International Relations.
