Dissernet founder Andrey Zayakin met with KFU representatives on 17th September.
The sides discussed how to more productively fight plagiarism and other serious violations in dissertations.
In Russia, dissertation defense procedures have received serious scrutiny recently with regards to their transparency and impartiality, in a large part thanks to Dissernet’s efforts. Kazan Federal University, being one of the few institutions allowed to bestow its in-house scientific degrees, is very interested in avoiding mistakes in its conferment regulations. Yesterday’s meeting was dedicated to talking about exactly that.
Dissernet is a nonprofit expertise network engaged in independent evaluations of dissertations presented in Russia. The community aims to eradicate plagiarism, research fraud, misrepresentation of data and other unethical practices in Russian science, as well as to expose individuals who have been especially persistent in such behavior.
