A KFU delegation visited the 84th meeting of the Society for American Archaeology and met with colleagues.
On 10th – 20th April, 2019, Director of the Institute of International Relations Ramil Khayrutdinov, Professor Ayrat Sitdikov, and Leading Research Associate Leonid Vyazov held meetings with Harvard Medical School, Oklahoma State University, and St. Cloud State University.
At the 84th SAA meeting, Dr. Vyazov presented his report on the history of agriculture and its influence on landscape. In particular, results of the research of small rivers in the Volga region were discussed. He also gave two lectures at Oklahoma and St. Cloud on the same topic. Talks were conducted about possible joint programs based on genetic and archaeological data of Eurasian peoples.
David Reich (Harvard Medical School) was interested in Russian colleagues’ research, particularly the geographical information system.
During a trip through New Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma, the KFU delegation toured a number of archaeological sites, monuments, and museums. They were accompanied by Professor Carlos Cordova (Oklahoma State University).
Oklahoma State and Kazan University signed a memorandum of understanding. The two sides will work on academic mobility and archaeological research.
At a meeting with St. Cloud, Islamic studies and migrant adaptation topics were raised. The latter is a focus of attention for St. Cloud scientists.
In conclusion, Kazanites arrived to Mile Lacs Kathio State Park. Joint research on its territory was discussed.
