The ceremony was held in the Emperor Hall on 15th November.
In his congratulatory speech, Rector Ilshat Gafurov informed the audience that the decision to bestow this degree was made by the Academic Board of Kazan University on 5th July.
He said, “In 2016, the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia supported the collective application for a ‘megagrant’ by Christoph Schick and the Department of Physical Chemistry of Kazan University. As a result, the Russia’s only ultrafast calorimetry laboratory was opened at our university in 2017. Apart from that, Professor Schick donated a brand new ultrafast calorimeter to the lab in 2018, for which we are very grateful to him.”
While already being a KFU employee, Dr. Schick has published over 40 papers. He regularly publicized the Lab’s results at international events. An annual seminar on calorimetry is held at Kazan Federal University. Thanks to his initiative, an international conference on chemical thermodynamics will take place at KFU in 2021.
After receiving the title, Dr. Schick reacted, “It’s a big honor for me to receive this award and this title. I want to express my sincerest gratitude to Rector Ilshat Gafurov and the Academic Board. I am glad to work at Kazan University, to be here today and to present the results of our research activities.”
In conclusion, the awardee gave a lecture on ultrafast calorimetry at Kazan University.
