An employee of the Laboratory of intelligent robotic systems (LIRS) of the Institute of Information Technology and Intelligent Systems (ITIS) KFU took part in the Science Festival "Discovering the World of Science" held for the 1-year students. The event took place on October 21, 2021 at the concert and sports complex “UNICS” of KFU. The event was being held for the first time at the university as part of a series of events dedicated to the Year of Science and Technology in Russia.
A Vice-rector for Research of KFU Dmitry Tayursky, a Vice-rector for Social Work and Student Affairs Arif Mezhvedilov, a Director of the Youth Policy Department Yulia Vinogradova, a Chairman of the Committee for Children and Youth Affairs of the Executive Committee of Kazan Mintimer Nugmanov, a Chairman of the Association of Young Scientists of KFU Mikhail Varfolomeev, a Director of the Institute of ITIS of KFU Mikhail Abramskiy were the guests of the festival.
LIRS’ Research Assistant Alexandra Dobrokvashina demonstrated the laboratory's developments at the festival. The visitors were presented scientific projects on robot-human interaction and a mobile robot “Engineer” developed by the Russian company “Servosila” for search and rescue operations in natural and manmade disasters, as well as for technical and engineering work. Employees of the LIRS use the robot "Engineer" as part of the implementation of research and applied projects and for graduation works in the field of search and rescue robotics.
