“Digital Economy – Future of Russia” was the tagline of the meeting in which Rector Ilshat Gafurov participated on April 6th.
He was a part of Tatarstani delegation which also included President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. The delegation visited Sarov where the RFNC is headquartered. For KFU this a follow-up to the recent signing of a cooperation agreement.
During the meeting RFNC executives presented the Institute of Laser Physics, the computing center of the Institute of Theoretical and Computational Physics, the local supercomputer and relevant facilities. Rector Gafurov in his presentation touched on the Digital Enterprise Lifecycle System (a software system for petroleum extraction and chemistry industry), LOGOS (a software system for manufacturing enterprises), and a new system of ecological (water, soil, and air) monitoring of industrial sites and natural habitats. The work in petroleum industry, in particular, was discussed this past March.
Upon returning to Kazan he said at the morning briefing, «The Sarov side is very interested in our UHF research and material design. We have to look for opportunities in these areas».
The partnership is expected to follow the pattern that already exists between KFU and Joint Institute for Nuclear Research. Aside from KFU, Kazan National Research Technical University will also partner up with RFNC.
Among the prospective partners for the KFU-RFNC tandem are KAMAZ, Tatneft, Kazan Helicopters, Tatenergo, and others.
The University may also serve as the center of advanced training programs for RFNC employees.
