The Department of Russian and World Literature is subdivided into two units – the Unit of World Literature and the Unit of Russian Literature.
The Unit of World Literature and the departments of German Philology and Romance Philology are the three degree program supervisors at the Division. The professors of our section work not only at the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication, but also at other institutes of Kazan Federal University – the Institute of International Relations, History and Oriental Studies; the Institute of Social and Philosophical Sciences and Mass Communications, etc. The research area of our scholars is comparative studies in different national literatures – American, British, German.
The Unit of Russian Literature provides teaching of key courses on the history of Russian literature, a range of methodological disciplines and special subjects. At present, the professors of the Unit of Russian literature conduct their research in the following areas: national myth in Russian literature and culture; interaction of classical and non-classical art systems in the literary process at the turn of the 20th - 21st centuries; dialog of cultures in the system of literary education.
