So far, 68 packages have been assembled by the university’s trade union.
A package comprises grains, pasta, canned goods (meat, fish, and vegetables), cereal, sunflower oil, sugar, flour, tea, condensed milk, coffee, biscuits, and sweets. Over 20 volunteers have been delivering the packages in the past days.
One of the retirees, Maysara Savelyeva, shared her words of gratitude, “At such a time, we retirees are not always able to go out for groceries. It was a great joy to receive such a grocery package. I am grateful to the leadership of our university. I thank the university for not forgetting us, the elderly. Thanks to the organizers and volunteers for helping and bringing joy.”
The volunteer headquarters started working in late March. Its activities consist of phone consultations and personal visits pertaining to the self-isolation during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
