Gabriel Shershenevich Award ceremony was held at Kazan City Hall today.
Nominations of the 2018 award included Legal Education, Justice, Devotion to Legal Profession, Pro Bono Projects, and Human Rights Protection. Many laureates are alumni of Kazan University, where legal science has been taught since day one.
President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated the participants on the occasion. He was joined by the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Foundation for Assistance to the Reform of Housing and Communal Services, Doctor Honoris Causa of Kazan Federal University Sergey Stepashin. “You can shirk responsibility using law, or you can assume responsibility. It’s difficult to inveigle our people today – this is the power of this award. However time changes, people must understand their rights.”
Gabriel Shershenevich Award moved to Kazan this year for a reason. It was Imperial Kazan University where he received his law degree and started research.
