Rector Ilshat Gafurov and his colleagues visited Uzbekistan on 28th – 30th September.
The unveiling occurred on Friday, 28th September. Before that, the KFU delegation toured the facilities of the National University of Uzbekistan and presented KFU’s potential. As usual, much interest was drawn to Kazan University’s priority areas – biomedicine, petroleum industry, and education.
Rector of NUU Avazzhon Marakhimov spoke about planned cooperation areas, including joint programs, research, education for Uzbekistani nationals at KFU, and bilateral laboratory utilization.
The two universities signed their first agreement in 2014 and started academic exchange. In 2018, the agreement was prolonged for five more years. This July, NUU representatives visited Kazan.
Finally, the Friday’s agreement covers future studies for Uzbekistanis at KFU. Most of them, and there are currently over a 1,000 at Kazan University, have so far chosen economics and finance. Director of the Institute of Management, Economics and Finance Nailya Bagautdinova arrived to Uzbekistan in June 2018 to conduct preparations for this new comprehensive contract.
Later during the last week’s trip, Rector Gafurov also met with the leadership of the Namangan Institute of Engineering Technology and Samarkand State University.
