Molecular immunology

Research in the "Molecular Immunology" Laboratory focuses on several key areas, such as the regulation of the mTOR1 complex during mitochondrial metabolism: effects on inflammation and carcinogenesis.

The purpose of this project is:

1. to study the features of metabolically reprogrammed mitochondria in native, pro-inflammatory and alternatively activated macrophages.
2. to determine molecular and functional composition of the hypothetical relationship between mitochondria and the mTORC1 complex.
3. to apply the obtained data on mitochondrial adaptation in cancer cells during carcinogenesis in translational medicine.

The methods used:

• Mass spectrometry (MS) on lysates from M0 / M1 / M2 macrophages isolated from control and OPA1∆M (transgenic) animals
• Immunocytochemistry method
• Western blot analysis
• Flow cytometry and fluorescent dye staining
• PCR, followed by visualization of the products by electrophoresis in agarose gel
• Real-time PCR
• Confocal scanning microscopy
• Electron microscopy
• Seahorse XF Analyzer
