The Department focuses on the development, experimental and clinical substantiation and implementation of new biocompatible materials, implants and instruments for the prevention, diagnosis, planning and treatment of dental diseases on the basis of fundamental achievements in medicine in the field of innovative technologies (nanotechnology, stem cell technologies, laser technologies, three-dimensional computer technology, etc.).

Research and Development efforts aim at:

• Creating and clinical testing of new nanomaterials and cellular technologies in dentistry and implantology;
• Developing competitive dental implants through the use of nanostructured implant materials;
• Studying patterns of dental implants integration depending on the material, designs, age characteristics and medical condition of a patient;
• Developing new technologies of prosthetics on dental implants using three-dimensional modeling;
• Optimizing methods of diagnostics, planning and treatment of patients with post-traumatic deformities of craniomaxillofacial region through the application of new surgical techniques with the use of implants and the stereolithographic biomodeling;
• Developing and applying the technology of autologous stem cell culture preparation (precursors for cell transplants) used for craniomaxillofacial reconstructive surgery and implantology;
• Optimizing the diagnostics, treatment, and rehabilitation of children with complex congenital malformations of the maxillo-facial system;
• Organizing and conduction scientific conferences, symposia, and seminars on innovative technologies in dentistry.
