Department of Foreign Languages for Humanities
The main tasks of the Department are the introduction of modern methods of teaching English using the latest achievements of science to solve professional and specific tasks of students; the development and introduction of new educational technologies and the use of the rich potential of the subject “English” for educational purposes. The work of the Department is carried out with the use of authentic materials of British authors in combination with guidelines, manuals and electronic educational resources developed by the academic staff of the Department for professionally-oriented language teaching.
The staff of the Department provides teaching English in such disciplines as: “Foreign Language”, “Business English”, “Foreign Language in Professional Activities”, “Academic Writing” for students of intramural and extramural forms of study of Bachelor`s and Master`s programs in the following five educational institutions of KFU:
Institute of Management, Economics and Finance (Teachers Training)
Institute of International Relations
Institute of Psychology and Education
Faculty of Law
Institute of Social and Philosophical Sciences and Mass Communications
The main approach of academic activity of the Department is focused on improving of the students' competitiveness based on the proficiency in English for solving communicative, professional and scientific problems in the context of international integration and cooperation with foreign countries. The Department is actively involved in the projects “Top 100/5 and English-speaking environment of the University”.
The basic research fields of the Department are typological, linguistic and didactic studies as well as methods of teaching foreign languages.
The Department actively cooperates with the Lobachevsky Lyceum KFU where the academic staff conducts elective classes with students of senior classes and organizes extra-curricular work in English.
