Learn German using your knowledge of English!
“Mother tongue plus two foreign languages” - this formula, developed by the European Union, has determined the language policy of the European Community in the 21st century. The world needs new people - highly qualified specialists who are fluent in at least three languages.
In the modern world, you won't surprise anyone with knowledge of English, so more and more people are starting to learn a second foreign language (after the first English), and more and more often their choice is inclined in favor of the German language.
So why German?
German is the second most common language in Europe (after English, of course) and the third in the world. Learning German brings you together with 120 million native speakers around the globe, and many people learn German as a second foreign language.
The German economy is very competitive and education is prestigious! Knowledge of the German language enhances business opportunities, and the German Academic Exchange Service supports thousands of German-speaking pupils, academics and students every year in their research and studies.
More than 80,000 new books are published annually in Germany, and only a small percentage of these books are translated into other languages. Knowledge of the language gives access to a huge number of German-language publications (and websites!).
Germany is a country of poets and thinkers (Goethe, Schiller, Heine, Lessing), classical music (Bach, Beethoven, Handel, Gluck, Schumann), world art and architecture. Knowledge of the German language allows you to get acquainted with the works and biographies of these people in the original language and advance in the study of world culture.
The German language is not as difficult as it seems! If you know English, then you have an advantage in learning German. Modern German and English are descended from the same Germanic proto-language, so they have a lot in common in vocabulary and grammar.
The project of the Faculty of Foreign Languages DEUTSCH NACH ENGLISCH is designed to unite the efforts of professors, teachers and students of the faculty in the issue of learning German on the basis of English in order to:
