On September 2, 2024, an “Academic Match” between “Ak Bars” and “Amur” hockey clubs was held in honor of the 220th anniversary of Kazan Federal University (KFU). Members of the Laboratory of Intelligent Robotic Systems (LIRS) of the Institute of Information Technologies and Intelligent Systems (ITIS) Alexandra Dobrokvashina, Alexander Eryomin and Renata Islamova took part in organizing the event.
At the beginning of the match, under the guidance of LIRS employees, a symbolic throw-in of the puck was made, which was carried out by the robot “Servosila “Engineer”. “I was glad to take part in such a big event,” says Alexandra, “as a child I used to go to hockey with my dad quite often to cheer for our team, and now, thanks to the Academic Match, I was able to visit both “behind the scenes” and in the stands. The match was tense, but thanks to the efforts of our team we managed to win. So, maybe the Engineer’s puck drop was lucky.”
Also in the hall of the Tatneft Arena everyone could get acquainted with the latest technologies, see the possibilities of artificial intelligence, study the history of KFU and take part in master classes and quizzes.
The first Academic Match in Russia ended with a 3:2 victory for the “Ak Bars” team.
