Biocompatible materials for the fabrication of tissue substitutes are crucial for the development of modern medical biotechnology. To perform their functions, they must be similar in physical, chemical, biological and structural properties to native tissues. The porosity of artificial scaffolds is important for the normal transfer of nutrients to cells, gas diffusion, and cell attachment and proliferation. Nanoscale inorganic additives are widely used to improve the functional properties of polymer materials for tissue engineering. Among these inorganic additives, halloysite nanotubes are the most promising candidates because of their biocompatibility and functional properties.
