Staphylococcus aureus hibernation promoting factor (SaHPF) is responsible for the formation of hibernating ribosome 100S dimers, which in turn play a role in survival of this pathogen under unfavorable conditions. Ribosome dimerization is strongly based on dimerization of the C-terminal domain (CTD)
