THE MASTER'S PROGRAMM
INTERNATIONAL PROTECTION OF HUMAN RIGHTS
The two-year Master's Program “International Protection of Human Rights” follows the main concept and the structure of the European Master Program on Human Rights and Democratization. It is being realized in collaboration with European Center for cooperation on human rights and 41 European universities. The Center invites the professors from European universities to teach in Kazan and provides for summer schools in different countries. Kazan professors, participating in the Program, have a good experience in teaching human rights in Russia and abroad. The students also get an opportunity to study in nine universities of the Russian Consortia coordinated by RUDN with the support of the Office of UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
The Program focuses on the comprehensive observation of theory and practice of human rights protection by international legal instruments. The learning outcomes for the master students are expected to be profound knowledge of national legislation and international treaties and mechanisms in this field. The contents of disciplines includes the issues of International and European human rights law, the UN system of human rights protection, the practice of European Court of Human Rights and protection of special categories of the population.
The teaching process includes either traditional lectures and seminars or multimedia classes, models of the court proceedings, computer testing.
The uniqueness of the master's program is to unite the international experience, the potential of nine Russian universities, as well as an interdisciplinary approach to learning.
The students of the International Protection of Human Rights profile traditionally acquire experience in scientific and practical activities, the best students have the opportunity to take part in the Summer School for Human Rights of the European Interuniversity Center for Human Rights and Democratization (EIUC) in Venice, Italy, and take a two-week internship in one of the European universities EIUC.
Students have the opportunity to participate in the International Summer School for Human Rights, organized on the basis of one of the universities of the consortium. Participants of the International Summer School listen to lectures of recognized experts in the field of international human rights law, participate in discussions, participate in the modeling of the European Court of Human Rights.
With the successful completion of the Master's program "International Protection of Human Rights", students receive a master's degree in "Jurisprudence", which is recognized both in Russia and abroad.
The Program prepares students for carriers in governmental, municipal, nongovernmental and international organizations, mass media, scientific and educational institutions working either at national level or internationally.
The language of the Program is Russian and English.
