Visa and registration
The type of visa, which you need to get, depends on the type of labour contract between you and KFU and on the length and purpose of your visit.
Multiple entry working visa
The multiple entry working visa is issued for the long term stay. In order to get this type of visa you should go through the following steps:
Step 1. Getting a single entry working visa (90 days)
Kazan University provides you with the invitation for a single entry working visa.
The procedure of issuing the invitation letter takes 20 business days. After the invitation letter is ready, KFU sends the original invitation to you via express mail.
The procedure of getting the visa is described here (as an example)
Step 2. Changing the status of your single entry working visa to the multiple one (the validity period depends on the duration of your contract)
After your arrival in Kazan, KFU International Office starts the procedure of prolonging your visa. The procedure takes 20 business days and therefore requires your first visit to Russia to be not shorter than one month in length. The duration of your multiple entry visa will depend on the duration of your contract but cannot exceed one year.
In order to start the procedure you should have to provide the following documents:
The highly-qualified specialist
In case the salary of invited professor exceeds 1 million RUR per year, he/she can be invited as a highly-qualified specialist. This status allows to receive a multiple entry working visa with validity period up to 3 years and to decrease the income tax down to 13%.
The procedure of receiving the invitation in this case is similar to one for a common working visa but takes less time – 14 business days. Together with the invitation letter, the Russian Federal Migration Service (FMS) issues a working permission that should be picked up from the local department of FMS personally by the invited specialist after his/her arrival to Kazan.
In order to start the procedure you should provide the following documents:
Migration registration
Every foreign citizen must be registered in the Federal Migration Service if the length of his/her stay equals to or exceeds 7 days. The registration procedures are provided by KFU International Office on the basis of reviewing the following documents (and their copies):
The registration certificate is usually ready on the next business day after submission of the required documents.
