Interdisciplinary Centre for Proteomic Research
In 2014, as part of the Federal Targeted Program "Research and development in priority areas of scientific and technological complex of Russia for 2014-2020", the project of Kazan (Volga region) Federal University "Proteogenomic research development in the Interdisciplinary Center for Shared Facilities of KFU for cellular, genomic and post-genomic Research in the Volga region" wassupported (Convention № 14.594.21.0003 of 15 August 2014, project id RFMEF15941X0003).
One of the main purposes of the center is personnel training for the economic sector of Tatarstan and Volga Federal District. When a classical university starts practicing engineering technology, which, certainly, will promote the products developed by fundamental science, it required restructuring of the existing units. The new names "Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technology", "Research Center for heavy oil and natural bitumen", "Research and Education Center for Pharmacology" have appeared and already sound familiar, what brings the hope that a breakthrough is coming soon.
As a result of the upgrade of University’s research complex, purchase of modern lab nequipment, attracting (and bringing back) world-renowned experts, the University today has clearly defined its own "growth zones". Core emphasize is oil refining and petrochemicals, new materials and nanotechnologies, information and communication technologies, bio and medical technology.
