Program description
The chemistry of supramolecular nano- and biosystems is a multidisciplinary direction of chemistry, located at the interface of modern trends in the development of chemistry, primarily such as nanochemistry, nanotechnology, nanoindustry, supramolecular chemistry, biochemistry. Thanks to the interdisciplinary approach, students graduating from the Master's program will increase, not only the wealth of knowledge, but also will expand their horizons, learn to think about simple, and not very, things differently, will be able to answer the question "Is it NANO for us?". (Do we need it?) Time flies ahead, science does not stand still, the age of progress has come, when the fantasy becomes reality. All this is rightly noted by the great science fiction writer Arthur Clark in his three laws: "1. When a distinguished but elderly scientist states that something is possible, he is almost certainly right. When he states that something is impossible, he is very probably wrong. 2. The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible. 3. Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." Therefore, life offers new challenges for all of us. To develop, and not just merely exist is the purpose our Master program has been created. To be on the cutting-edge frontiers of science, and keep it going forward.
Training in the Master's program includes the educational and research parts. This allows not only to significantly improve the qualification of graduates with a master's degree in comparison with bachelors, but also offer them the opportunity to try their best in the field of science under the supervision of the leading scientists of Kazan (Volga region) Federal University.
The advantage of the program is that the chemistry of supramolecular nano- and biosystems is a multidisciplinary direction of chemistry, located at the junction of modern trends in the development of chemistry, primarily such as nanochemistry, nanotechnology, nanoindustry, supramolecular chemistry, biochemistry. Supramolecular chemistry is an interdisciplinary field of science that includes the chemical, physical and biological aspects of examination of complex chemical systems that are linked together through intermolecular non-covalent interactions. Supramolecular chemistry considers the formation and behavior of ensembles of organic and inorganic molecules, study the processes of highly specific recognition, response, and transport, analyzes the stability of supramolecular ensembles, dynamics of interaction of constituent particles, mutual influence and inter-conversion of components.

Supramolecular chemistry uses the laws of organic synthetic chemistry to create components of supramolecular assembles, coordination chemistry of complexes, physical chemistry is for study the interactions of components, as well as concepts and laws of biochemistry to consider the functioning of supramolecular ensembles. There are a number of important tasks, the solutions of which are provided by supramolecular chemistry. For example, one of such tasks is the development of highly efficient selective reagents and catalysts. Knowing remarkable properties of the natural catalysts and enzymes is a powerful stimulus for creating their synthetic analogues from simple molecules using the laws of supramolecular chemistry. The design and synthesis of receptor molecules capable of selectively binding organic and inorganic substrates through supramolecular complexation led to the realization of selective ion transport through membranes. At present, supramolecular systems with effective energy transfer have been obtained and studied. Molecular systems operating as photon conversion devices are known. Molecular wires and channels along for ion transportation are also created. In addition, switching devices used for the generation, processing, transmission and recording of signals are developing rapidly. Thus, study of supramolecular chemistry is the most important for new technologies for catalysis, the creation of sensors, in the synthesis of new drugs, optical devices and in the production of new miniature devices for recording and storing information.
Nanochemistry is a dynamically developing discipline of chemical science. Its scientific application is so widespread that there is an explosion of publications on this subject, new methods, approaches, expert systems and databases are constantly being created, which requires students to constantly replenish their knowledge and skills in working with literature. On the other hand, the multidisciplinarity of this science requires the serious basic knowledge of organic chemistry, biology and physics from the students engaged in this profile. The foregoing, as well as the transition to a two-tiered system of training specialists (bachelor-master), necessitated the opening of a new master program in Chemistry of Supramolecular Nano- and Biosystems in the KFU. The master's program includes the study of physical chemistry of nanoparticles and nanomaterials, supramolecular chemistry, peculiarities of chemical processes in nanosystems, methods for obtaining nanoparticles, chemical technology of nanomaterials and its instrumentation, methods and instruments for studying and analyzing nanoparticles and nanomaterials. As part of the master's program, specialists are trained to understand the current problems of science and technology, and have a broad outlook in these areas, taking into account the continuous creation of new methods and approaches in this area.

Their knowledge will be needed to work in organizations related to the coordination of scientific activity and the development of high technologies in ministries, departments, the Russian Academy of Sciences, etc. (Moscow State University, AE Arbuzov Institute of Organic and Physical Chemistry of KSC RAS, N.
