Department of Physical Chemistry
The department of physical chemistry has 12 scientific groups that carry out research in the fields of thermodynamics of intermolecular interactions and supramolecular structures, electrocatalysis, high pressure chemistry, biophysical chemistry, heterogeneous and homogeneous catalysis, and oil chemistry. The department has the most modern scientific equipment: including ultrafast and precision calorimeters, X-ray diffractometer, atomic force microscope.
8 doctors of science and 25 candidates of science work in the department. In 2024, the researchers of department had published 127 scientific articles in international journals, indexed by WoS / Scopus. In 2014-2024, 1264 articles were published. Together with large industrial enterprises, the new technologies and materials are being developed and introduced.
The department teaches students of the Chemical Institute, as well as institutes of geology and oil and gas technologies, fundamental medicine and biology, ecology and environmental management in Russian and English languages. The department opened two magistracies: “Physico-chemical research methods in chemistry” and “Oil chemistry and catalysis”.
The department holds the Republican Chemical Olympiad and preparatory training for the Tatarstan national team to participate in the All-Russian Chemical Olympiad.
The department chair: Prof. Marat Ziganshin.
