Institute of International Relations, History and Oriental Studies of Kazan Federal University was established on November 1, 2013. This Institute traces its history back to 1804 - the year of foundation of Imperial Kazan University.
Director of the Institute is Ramil Khairutdinov.
Two thousand five hundred students are trained here among them are 129 students who came from other countries. 29 Doctors of Science and 83 Candidates of Science are employed on regular basis. 12 Professors are from non-CIS countries. Research achievements of the Institute faculty members are recognized in Russia and other countries.
The Institute trains bachelors in the following specialties: History and Archeology, Oriental and African Studies, International Relations, Foreign Regional Studies, Linguistics, Anthropology and Ethnology, Cultural Studies, History of Arts, Museum Studies and Protection of Cultural and Natural Heritage and Pedagogical Education. The Institute also trains masters in the following specialties: International Relations, History and Archeology, Anthropology and Ethnology, Pedagogical Education, Art Studies (Arts History). The following specialties are to be opened soon: Records and Archive Management, and Tourism.
Structure of the Institute is the following: 4 divisions, research and academic unit, Centre for additional educational services, Museum of Archeology and Museum of Ethnography, Academic facility for practical trainings in Bilyarsk village in Alekseevsky district of the Tatarstan Republic, Research and academic centres and research labs, centres for country studies.
On October 30, 2011 on the initiative of the Institute was opened University for Children of Volga region Federal district.
