English Language Contest for the 2nd year students
Department of Foreign Languages in Economics, Business and Finance has organized the English language contest for the 2nd year students. The competition was composed of 2 parts. The first (written tour) registered 28 students as participants, where they faced a challenge of listening, vocabulary and grammar knowledge tasks. Only 10 students managed to get into the second part of the contest where the teaching stuff jury together with the English First company representative examined the candidates’ speaking skills. Thus congratulate the following winners:
Department of Foreign Languages in Economics, Business and Finance has held a series of events devoted to the university’s 210 anniversary (December, 1 – December, 13)
The most outstanding performances included “What I know about My University” Quiz and “My Uni” posters’ contest. The quiz was oriented on the examination of students’ knowledge of the University’s most remarkable historical data, whereas the posters’ contest gave the students a chance to reveal their love, devotion and respect to their alma mater in the form of pictorial art.
Christmas Carols Contest
Department of Foreign Languages in Economics, Business and Finance has held Christmas Carols Song Contest.
This creative contest united 20 groups of participants studying at the 1st and 2nd courses of General Economics Department. All the performances were remarkably awesome, fabulous and gorgeous. The students sang English songs about Christmas, played games and participated in funny quizzes. The best shows were awarded with special prizes from the English First company.
“Beyond the Limits” – English Language Contest for the 1st year students
Department of Foreign Languages in Economics, Business and Finance has organized the English language contest “Beyond the limits”. The event took place during the University’s science week (April, 1– April, 21) involving 108 first-year students as active participants.
The contest was designed to motivate students not just to show their English language knowledge and speaking skills, but to develop their creativity, individuality as well as critical thinking skills.
The first part of the contest was devoted to the students’ native land. All the participants were proposed to get divided into teams of 3–5 people and to make a short greeting video about a city or region where they come from. The best videos were selected by the jury and only 30 of the contestants went into the second part of the contest, where they faced a challenge of solving a case study on Recruitment. Not only the students’ English proficiency level was examined, but also their ability working in a team along with critical thinking skills. Only 10 students reached the final third part of the contest and managed to display their background knowledge as well as their artistic skills. Ultimately 4 people have been selected as winners and awarded prizes provided by the English First company:
