The decision was announced by Rector Ilshat Gafurov, who is going to act as council chairman, during a morning briefing on 2 November.
“The council's main function is to determine strategies in digital transformation and digital technology, to decide on investment opportunities in those areas,” said Vice-Rector for Innovation and Digital Transformation Dmitry Pashin.
The council will aim to unify regulations, monitoring and implementation of digitization projects in all departments, something which has not yet been insufficiently effective.
“All projects will be analyzed with regards to concrete goals and tasks. We will assess the planned KPI and which problems can be solved with implementation of specific projects. The Council will decide on investing based on that,” added Pashin.
Rector Gafurov also informed that the Uni's IT support services are being split in two. The Department of Informatization and Communications and the Information Security Service are going to act separately.
