Philologists of KFU took part in the 60th Anniversary Conference of European Association for American Studies. This year the conference was attended by over 300 participants.
The department of foreign literature at KFU represented by professor Olga Nesmelova, head of the department; professor Vera Shamina; and associate professor Olga Karasik are members of the Association and take part in the annual conferences on American Studies.
This conference was of special importance to KFU as one of the sections was headed by Olga Nesmelova, jointly with professor Vysotskaya from Kiev National Linguistic University. The section was titled Unspoken Things Spoken:Poetics of Trauma in American Literature of the Late 20th – Early 21st Centuries. It was represented by eight reports concerning the most influential events of the 20th century which caused the deepest trauma among population.
