The 8th forum was held in Seoul on April 11th – 13th. KFU was represented by Vice-Rector Dmitry Tayursky.
This was the first iteration where Russian universities had a chance to partake. There were 65 delegations from 36 countries in total.
The main topics this time were social responsibility, strategic global partnership of universities, and transformations of research universities. The latter was illustrated by the cases of Ecole Polytechnique and Technion.
A specialized session on cooperation with industry was also held, with University of Waterloo, Nanyang TU, and Dublin City University sharing their experience. They were joined by some of the Korean industrial giants.
Dmitry Tayursky had talks with colleagues from KAIST, Ecole Centrale Lyon, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and Aalto University. The raised questions ranged from educational and research matters to inter-university cooperation.
