The Higher School prepares bachelors and masters proficient in Tatar and other Turkic languages, the literature and cultural values of the Tatar and Turkic peoples.
Graduates are employed in the sphere of higher, secondary, primary and early childhood education. They work in research organizations, Turkological centres, public institutions, the media, translation agencies, tourist agencies, etc.
The staff of the Higher School is proud of its faculty, which includes doctors of sciences, professors, such as M.Kh.Bakirov, F.G.Galimullin, M.Z.Zakiev, R.R.Zamaletdinov, H.Yu.Minnegulov, F.Sh.Nurieva, F.F.Kharisov, Ch.M.Kharisova, A.Sh.Yusupova, Z.M.Yavgildina. The academic staff of the Higher School includes members of Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, Presidium of the International Centre for Turkic Studies of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University (Kazakhstan); Presidium of the Presidential Council on the Russian Language, the Expert Council of Higher Attestation Commission in Philology and Art Studies, Honoured scholars of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tatarstan, members of the Union of Writers of Tatarstan, the Russian Union of Designers, the International Association of Fine Arts-AIAP UNESCO, the laureates of State Prize of the Republic of Tatarstan named after G.Tukay.
The Higher School hosts educational and research laboratories such as Ecology of the Tatar language”, “Turkology and intercultural communication”, “Cultural linguistics and lexicography”, “Musical folklore of Tatars and peoples of the Volga region”, “Literary and theatre criticism”, “Art and computer technology and design”, a creative laboratory “Art-design”, “Mizgel” student theatre, etc.
The most prominent projects of the staff of the Higher School, implemented in recent years, include: Kayum Nasyri Institute, Centre for International language certification in Tatar language, “Ana Tele” online Tatar language school, “Emergency linguistic assistance”, the annual International Scientific-Practical Forum “Preservation and Development of Languages and Cultures” and others.
Since 2013 the School publishes international scholarly journal Tatarica that accepts articles in three languages: English, Tatar and Russian. The journal meets modern international standards. Its International Editorial Board includes world famous scholars of high academic reputation. The issues of the journal are sent to leading libraries, universities and research centers in the world. In 2015 Tatarica joined EBSCO, the world’s largest database available to researchers from all over the world.
