Department of Criminal Process and Criminalistics was created in 1967.
Its first head was Doctor of Law, Professor Fidan Nurgaleevich Fatkullin, who lectured on the criminal process. At this time, at the Department of Criminal Procedure and Criminalistics worked such scientists as Alexander Tihonovich Bazhanov, A. Semenkov, J. Avraham, A. Ertevtsian, Z. Zinatullin, V. Kuklin, K. Fakhrutdinov
From 1975 to 1982 after Professor F. Fatkullin the department headed by Doctor of Law, Professor Viktor Malkov. In 1982, after the transition V Malkov at the Department of Criminal Law, head of chair of criminal trial and criminalistics becomes a candidate of jurisprudence Idiat Khamidullin, who previously held the post of the Prosecutor of the Republic of Tatarstan.
From 1988 to 2007, the Department of Criminal Procedure and Criminalistics led PhD, Associate Professor Nikolai Baharev. He had a highly professionalism of scientist and educator, was a master of the sport of basketball and volleyball.
From 2007 to 2013 the department was in charge of Doctor of Law, Professor Nadezhda Georgievna Muratova.
Muratova’s research interests are the problems of the judicial protection of individual rights, judicial control of international criminal proceedings.
From 2012 to the present department supervises PhD, Associate Professor, Honored Lawyer of the Republic of Tatarstan Nail Islamovich Gazetdinov.
His research interests include: the implementation of the principles of criminal justice and the improvement of the mechanism of protection of individual rights in criminal proceedings.
The main scientific direction of the department - "Procedural, forensic, prosecutors and supervisory means to ensure the rights and freedoms of the individual, the effectiveness of the criminal justice." Under the scientific direction 7 teachers of the department are working on doctoral theses, post-graduate students successfully defend his doctoral thesis.
