I am interested in the study of vegetation dynamics in the Pleistocene and the Holocene and practical approaches to biodiversity conservation in and near cities. My main specialty is phytolith analysis (plant silica microfossils). I have worked in forest-steppe and alpine ecosystems in Russia and North America.
