Short description of important scientific result: The monuments and cultural heritage sites of Volga Bulgaria, the Golden Horde and Kazan Khanate periods have been studied by researchers in the Republic of Tatarstan and beyond its borders. The researchers conduct large-scale complex reconstruction of the history of the population and states across the Volga-Urals starting with the early Middle Ages until the Modern Times on the basis of a synthesis of archaeological, ethno-historical, physico-anthropological and natural-geographical methods. This innovative approach offers new opportunities for the understanding of the Middle Volga region and the neighbouring territories as a key political, trade, economic, cultural and spiritual centre which influenced the historical processes of the entire Eurasian continent for several centuries.
The organization and conduct of scheduled, rescue and salvage archaeological studies in the Republic of Tatarstan and Kazan, including the Kazan Kremlin, is supervised by Kazan (Volga Region) State Univers
